About Us

After growing up around ranches, riding the range with his grandfather, Tom headed to Oregon State in 1969 to learn the art of a farrier. A year after graduating, he was asked to return as an assistant instructor, later heading north to Washington to teach at Olympia Vocational Tech.

Over the course of his career, Tom opened a shop, but spent most of his time at the race track – both as a farrier and trainer. While recovering from a knee injury, he realized that his course needed to shift once again. At his ranch in Stanley, just north of Edgewood, NM, he converted a portion of the hay barn into a workshop. The workshop has now taken over the entire barn. An interest in powder coating, has led to some brilliant display pieces.

Tom also enjoys taking ordinary farm objects and transforming them into unique and useful works of art. If you look closely, you will find nails, bolts, discs, springs and other ordinary objects in his creations.

Recently Tom was asked to create a memorial to his step father, who was known as the “Dancing Fiddler.” This memorial was created on a tractor disc with a cutout that throws a shadow on the ground of a dancing fiddler and is located on Black Mesa, south of Truth or Consequences, NM.

Tom was commissioned for a lasting project in 1975 in which he created an eagle weathervane. It was uniquely made from the saw blade, nails and barrel from the old Sister’s Mill where it remains in Central Oregon above Sister's Market.
